Varro Wins Swedish Championships in Photography
The photographer and visual artist Andreas Varro became Swedish Champion in photography on Monday 14 October in Sollentuna, Stockholm. Varro became category winner in three different image categories, which was awarded with three gold medals, but he also won the title Swedish Champion which goes to the photographer who has the highest number of total points in the competition. Varro won with standing ovations and cheers gold in the categories Digital Illustration, Commercial Image and Creative Portrait.
SM in photography is organized by Svenska Porträttfotografers Förbund and has been arranged since 2013, but previously under “Swedish Championships in portrait photography”, a new one for this year is that the competition opens up for more different types of photography. The competition has 10 categories and a total of 524 contributions were submitted. The competition was arranged at the Scandic Star Hotel Sollentuna.
The images are judged by an International Jury of 5 persons from the larger European Photographic Association. The competition has grown in popularity every year and is aimed at both professional and amateur photographers in Sweden. The competition has 10 different categories: Classical Portrait, Creative Portrait, Child, Baby, Wedding, Fine Art, Commercial, Nature / Wildlife, Digital Illustration and Reportage
Andreas Varro is award winning with eight major national and international awards, including a bronze medal at the World Championships in Sydney in 2018.
